It says in this article that aspartame can cause diabetes. So why is it that they give people with diabetes aspartame as an atrificial sweetener?

I get readings of 50 and 70 before supper and I cook full meals at home and yes it feels like I need to eat at those times. Thanks and the more answers the better.

I read somewhere how the cause of weight loss in diabetes was that sugar spilt into the urine and it caused weight loss. I dont really understand it though and dont know what to search google for lol. Could you please explain it to me?
