Please do not underestimate the power of reflexology or acupressure or acupuncture. All are good in their own fields.
During the diagnostic process, in reflexology, the soles of your feet or the palms of your hands show areas which have weak energy levels called reflex points and they hurt when pressed by fingers or a wooden jimmy. These areas are the parts of the body or the organs through which the energy levels flow. Thus pressing these points on the soles of your feet or palms of your hands will tell the therapist exactly what is wrong with you.
Continued treatment will also give relief to the patient.

Reflexology is based on a theory that has never been shown to have scientific merit. Visit three reflexologists and you get three different diagnoses. The zones reflexologists describe have never been anatomically demonstrated. You get a good foot massage that feels relaxing and stress relieving, but no valid prognostications about diseases in any of the human body's organ systems.

I personally practice reflexology and I find Iridology and sclerology are a better and more accurate forms of diagnosis. Those points in reflexology can be toxins stored in those areas presently and pockets of lactic acid. I found it not to be a complete diognostic tool thats why its good to go to a practitioner that has more than three or more forms of diognostic techniques. Muscle response testing, iris reading hair and urine analisis, tongue and fingernail diognosis ect..
I hope this helps Helene / Folk Healer / botanica west

I have a friend who practices Reflexology, and she has many clients. She says toxins and harmful crystals gather in the soles of our feet and they can tell which part of the body has a problem. I let her try it on me for about 2 minutes, but my feet are too sensitive. She said she didn't feel much wrong with me in that short time. She says she would have felt areas of hard lumps or something under the skin certain places on my soles if there was a problem. Might be something to it, but I can't stand anyone doing stuff with my feet. I go nuts.

Reflexologists cannot diagnose disease unless they are also medical doctors. Your reflexologist should have explained more clearly what s/he found on an energetic level.
